Forbidden Religion: Suppressed Heresies of the West, edited by J. Douglas Kenyon (2006, Bear & Company)

After reading Forbidden History, I was pretty excited to read Forbidden Religion (I see there may be a Forbidden Science book too!).  In my readings, I come across references to the Knights Templar, to the secret legacy of Jesus, to the pagan origins of Christianity, the Illuminati and the occult-tendencies of some Scientists (like Isaac Newton), and the side real history of the Free Masons.  If you're into this stuff, this book is right up your alley.

It's hard to tease out truth from mythology, from cover-ups, conspiracies and dogmatic adherence to once-esoteric teachings from a far away, long ago land.  This book blurs the lines a little more, but, fortunately, gives the readers some options for further research.  Three things I'm more interested now, for instance, about the Free Masons are: 1) what happened to the Knights Templar after they were persecuted by the Church, did some of them flee to Scotland with the holy grail (whatever that may be) 2) is there buried Templar treasure at Oak Island? 3) Who else came to the New World before Christopher Columbus?

A good book, though I think that the writing in Forbidden History was better.
