The Toltec Path of Recapitulation: Healing Your Past to Free Your Soul by Victor Sanchez (Bear & Company, 2001)

Victor Sanchez expands on the idea of recapitulation outlined in Carlos Castaneda's book, The Eagle's Gift (1981).  Sanchez has many years of research experience with recapitulation: the bodily remembering of powerful events in a person's past that have damaged the energy body.  By having the body remember, a person is able to challenge the routine (doing) of simultaneously maintaining and suffering from that original damage.  Through the process of recapitulation, which includes creating a list of events to be remembered, building a recapitulation box, and then completing the "not-doing's" en-visioned through the recapitulation process, any individual (Sanchez says people with clinical mental illness or bad drug habits ought to not recapitulate) can heal their energy body - which Sanchez says is a natural process that humans generally tend to ignore, forget and neglect.

When the damage to the energy body is healed, we become free and powerful, unhindered by bolstering and suffering from the memories of damaging experiences.
